Appellant Ingram was convicted following a trial by jury of the offenses of rape by using or threatening the use of a deadly weapon, a class A felony; criminal deviate conduct by using or threatening the use of a deadly weapon, a class A felony; and criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon, a class B felony. For these convictions he received respectively sentences of thirty years, thirty years, and ten years. In this appeal appellant raises three primary issues, namely:
